Styrene
Styrene, Polycarbonate and Acrylic are all terms for tough, single sheet plastic glazing. Styrene will not shatter like glass, so it is ideal for playhouses.
Ring Latch
A simple, non-locking way to secure a gate or garden building. Operated by a basic twisting action, easy to open. Style and design may vary by product.
Description
The Shire Barclay Summerhouse is designed to be placed into the corner of a garden, as the two rear walls come together to form a right angle.
The fully glazed double doors are flanked on either side by fully glazed window panels, all of which allow plenty of daylight to enter into the summerhouse.
The Barclay Summerhouse is made from tongue and groove cladding to the walls and floor, while the roof panels are a solid sheet OSB. Mineralized felt is supplied to cover the roof and full instructions, fixtures and fittings are provided as standard.
While the Barclay is designed for placement into the corner of a garden, we recommend allowing a little room all around this corner summerhouse to make it easier to re-apply wood preservative as instructed.

Delivered on time, went together very easily but a few very minor modifications needed. The latch is not really suitable as the inner ring is too big and fouls on the other door. The butterfly catches are too small and hardly reach across the gap between the doors. It would be good if door stays were provided. Overall the quality of the product is very good.

Really happy with my Summerhouse, it was delivered earlier than expected which was good. We just bought a better quality roofing felt due to the weather conditions we experience in our garden.

Very happy with the summerhouse we erected it ourselves and found it easier to paint first we used the protek paint and found it needed 3 coats but we are very pleased with it, The only thing that disappointed was that the handle was to big so we bought 2 chrome ones instead. we found the ordering very easy and the delivery was on time as promised. will recommend to all friends and family.

This is a nice summer house, if a little pricey. The construction instructions were fairly easy to follow, but definitely need a minimum of two people to erect. Be aware also that you may have to "tweak" the construction as it is not always a good fit, with various gaps and hole to be filled in. I would have preferred to have the pieces individually labelled and with fixing holes pre-drilled for easier construction. So far (two months) the building has remained waterproof and stable. I would recommend onsite inspection prior to purchase.

We bought the Barclay Shire corner 8 by 8 summerhouse last month. No problems with delivery or putting it up. It fits perfectly into the corner of my garden and is much more spacious inside than I had imagined. Enjoying using it very much. Would recommend it to anyone with a small garden.

We received the separate panels for our summer house and were a bit dubious about putting it up properly. But the instructions were easy to follow and it went together perfectly. We had a bad storm a week or so later and it stood up to that test. So we are really pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone.

Good delivery. Not that hard to build. The ground needs to be level for the doors to hang straight. Looks nice. (ONE GARDEN COMMENT: Thank you for your feedback and the mention of the importance of a level base. Without a firm, (spirit) level area of concrete or paving etc, any wooden floor will 'twist' to a low point of your base. A prime indicator of an unlevel base are the door(s) sitting out of alignment within their door frame; you'll see triangular gapping top and bottom. You must either then correct your base or pack beneath the affected floor joist to resolve.)

Found the Shire Barclay summerhouse to be excellent quality for the money. Took a little bit longer to assemble than anticipated but looked great when finished. Just a couple of little niggles, a couple of the window beads were broken on delivery and one of the doors was quite badly warped, which I didn't notice until I tried to hang it. Contacted Shire and they were very helpful and dispatched replacements straight away.

The summerhouse is lovely, great size and looks lovely in the garden. My only negative comment is that the doors don't close tightly. There is a gap between the doors and also the handle is a little bit wobbly. If u kind of lift & push it's possible to get the doors almost lined up but I don't think it will be possible to attach extra locks or bolts to increase the security of it. Am slightly worried that in the winter the door may not be completely weatherproof but I did choose a cheaper option. Still happy with the summerhouse.

Placed order and received prompt delivery. The summer house was generally as described. After treating it three coats of wood treatment to get the colour we wanted, it was ready for assembly. A concrete base was installed when I had the exact footprint of the base. The instructions were fairly straightforward and the build went ahead. The most complicated bit was the installation of the door frame. Instructions could have been more precise for this part as it is possible to get the measurements for the door incorrect, but nothing was said about the ANGLE of the separate parts and adjustments had to be made to get one of the doors to close properly. This was not easy as once the frame is attached it is difficult to get it apart again. We insulated the walls and roof and lined with tongue and groove timber for a cosy finish. This was then painted and carpet tiles installed. The end result is quite pleasing. One happy wife which is worth a kings ransom. Thank you.

My only comment pre-installation is the difficulty in reading the very small print in the instructions. Either send a larger hard copy or an electronic copy which can be enlarged. Otherwise the product was delivered satisfactorily and on time. Watch this space.

This product does offer value for money but we were concerned that one of the doors is very warped. Similarly, two cover strips were second rate. One had snapped at the point of a knot and another had a long split at the top. Front decorative grooved strip also had a large chunk out of it. Despite this we are very pleased with the way it went together.

Firstly, thank you One Garden for your excellent communication and Shire for the prompt delivery. The summerhouse is of good quality and value. Most manufacturers charge extra for a T&G floor but it comes standard and imho is a necessity. There is a lot of prep work to do such as 2-3 coats of preserver and Cuprinol doesn't come cheap at 2 tins at 30 pounds, but if you want longevity you need to invest. You could buy a pressure treated summerhouse but you may not like the colour and they are more expensive. Assembly is fairly straight forward until the roof which proved awkward. It is a cross between pent and pitch but worth the effort. At the price point and with careful prep and assembly a very good looking Summerhouse.

We are very pleased with how the summerhouse looks now that it has been completed and painted and in use. It looks good and it is just what we wanted. There were some issues with construction such as a couple of nails that were protruding through the wood and the roof needed some effort and modification, however on the whole we are delighted with the finished product.
