Timber Characteristics
Pressure treated timber... what to expect?
Through the kind permission of Zest 4 Leisure, we have reproduced below their helpful 'Timber Characteristics' guidance leaflet.
While the quality and service specifics referenced relate to Zest's products alone, we still believe this leaflet is worthwhile sharing, as it addresses several common questions in relation to the characteristics of vacuum pressure treated softwood.
For example, bleaching and green spotting are natural occurances of the storage and pressure treatment process, neither of which are harmful or reduce the lifespan of a product. Likewise, minor splits and fissures are a common characteristic of the seasonal expansion and contraction of external timber; by reaction to its surroundings and the ambient moisture conditions.
